Matt completed his BSc in Biochemistry at the University of York. As part of his studies he did a year in industry, conducting research in assay optimisation and screening at GlaxoSmithKline, Stevenage. Matt did his PhD in the Rosser lab at the University of Edinburgh, where he was engineering baker’s yeast (S. cerevisiae) for the production of high value plant triterpenoids and saponins as part of an industrial collaboration..

Matt is a postdoctoral research associate developing tools to boost the production of recombinant protein therapeutics in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells.
