Mai-Britt Jensen

Background

Mai-Britt did her PhD at Glasgow University working on DNA repair mechanisms in plants, more specifically the post-translational modification mechanism of poly ADP-ribosylation.  After this, she went on to work on finding and modifying esterases from extremophiles for use in cold water cleaning and other industrial processes.

Research

Currently, Mai-Britt's project involves establishing the electroactive bacteria Shewanella oneidensis as a chassis for use in synthetic biology, while engineering it to increase electric power output in microbial fuel cells using synbio tools.
